Just when you think that the bureaucrats at the Vatican cannot do anything stupider than they’ve done before, they manage do outdo themselves:
One of the domain names of a website that is the primary source of information on clergy sex abuse cases has been blocked on the Vatican’s web servers.
Users on Vatican servers who try to access one of the four web addresses for Bishopaccountability.org, which tracks publicly available information on clergy accused of abuse, are told the page has been blocked because of “Hate/Racism.”
A Vatican spokesman said the site may be blocked because of an automatic filter system that checks words that appear on websites for explicit nature or inappropriateness.

Bishopaccountability.org, which is a non-profit corporation in the U.S. state of Massachusetts, is run by a staff of two located in the Boston area.
A staple of those researching the decades-long clergy sex abuse crisis, the site includes links to reporting on abuse since the 1980s, a database of accused abusers throughout the U.S., testimonies of abuse survivors, and court documents from lawsuits and criminal prosecutions across the U.S.
Among its activities in the past year, the site has:
*Made available more than 8,500 pages of material detailing claims of sexual abuse by a group of Franciscan priests and brothers in California, after their court-ordered release in May 2012;
*Provided a detailed timeline of the witness testimonies and evidence in the trial of Msgr. William Lynn, a former official in the Philadelphia archdiocese who was found guilty in June 2012 of endangering children during his time at the archdiocese from 1992-2004, and;
*Given background information on the release of some 12,000 files documenting Cardinal Roger Mahony and the Los Angeles’ archdiocese’s handling of abuse cases in the 1980s, following the files’ court ordered release in February 2013;
“This Web site is dedicated to the survivors and their families and loved ones,” the site states on its “About us” page.
Access to one of the site’s four addresses was prevented by the web service provided in Paul VI Audience Hall, a facility the Vatican has provided for use by reporters during the papal transition.
I helped BishopAccountability get started. It has hundreds of thousands of pages of documents which are being organized and put on the web. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
What the Vatican bureaucrats at all levels do not yet realize is that the web makes secrecy almost impossible. Their idiocies will be broadcast world-wide, so they might as well do the right thing.
Any attempts to suppress the web will fail, and will only give wider publicity to their mistakes:

(PS: The excuse that it was blocked accidentally does not hold water. If it had been blocked because of sexual content – understandable – it would have said BLOCKED BECAUSE OF SEXUAL CONTENT, not HATE/RACISM. Maybe Cardinal Mahony’s delicate sensibilities were offended.)

The new movie “Emperor” which is about Emperor Hirohito and General MacArthur in 1945 show us how we used to treat people who thought they were God. MacArthur allowed free speech in post-war Japan, separated Church and State, and allowed the Shinto Divine Emperor cult to wither and die. The same process will now occur with the Vatican and their attempt at censorship!
Mary, Your daughter’s observation shows Dr. Podles is right about the effeminization of the church and of males in Western culture as well.
Dr. Anthony Esolen, author of The Unseen Victims and A Priesthood of Fathers, has also got a handle on this great tragedy.
Fatherlessness (due to abandonment, apathy, abuse, addiction, adultery, etc.) is at the bottom of the father hunger that distorts and disorients boys identities, drives them to same-sex attraction, and homo-bi-etc. sexuality.
Women have also been wounded, masculinized and hardened by many factors…including abortion and sexual promiscuity.
Bishop Accountability couldn’t have asked for a bigger boost.
I learned many years ago that if the institution of the Catholic Church is trying to “ban” some source of information, it is probably because of some very inconvenient truth they are trying desperately to keep hidden (case in point: I well remember hearing about how horribly anti-Catholic the documentary about the Magdalene Laundries was, that it was full of lies and a sin to watch—now we know it was true and then some)
The hilarious part is that the PTB in the Church really do seem to have missed the memo: in the age of the internet and instant access to information, this kind of behavior just makes them the object of derision to anybody with eyes, ears, and a brain.
That victims now have the ability to share stories and realize they were not the only ones and that it wasn’t their fault is probably the biggest thorn in the side of the corrupt factions of the Church.
They don’t say knowledge is power for nothing.
A modest proposal…This reminds me of when a baby puts a hand towel over his head and thinks his mother can’t see him. If clerics have no object permanence then they are even more immature than I thought. It makes sense, though. If you say you are sorry, all the badness you did goes away. If you block the badness on the website, it just goes away. Poof!
How silly of the Vatican, if purposeful, but it may have been as was said, that it was an automatic blocking by a filter. In any case, the Irish just finished an in-depth study of the Magdalene laundries and found that they were not bad at all. They were quite surprised. We need to always be careful about things “everybody knows” to be true.

In a strange way everything became so much clearer today.Leon’s post and my daughter and son in law’s observational impressions of the News ,along with an interesting phone call, made me realize why Fr Lombardi made such a big point to stop the US Cardinals who are staying at the N American University from giving their almost incessant Press Conferences.Face time in front of the cameras reveals so much !

BishopAccountability is a wonderful source for documentation and News files .They collect and print facts News Reports ,charges and trials along with the outcomes. I imagine the reporters in the past have refered to it often when covering the background info on Cardinals and their Sees that they are writing about .

and happened on a page where the Gay Lector at St Anthony’s shrine is speaking about the older ladies who serve as “eucharistic ministers” .He says they ask no questions and pretend they are not speaking with a gay man priest or lector, get to be 87 or so and then they die.

treasure, thanks to the brilliant and generous souls who continue to post information daily on the clergy abuse scourge. Leave it to the Vatican to block access. Heaven forbid that the Cardinals should be educated about themselves and those who serve under them.

Sibyl, Fatherlessness is indeed one of the main causes of priestly pedophile tragedy! One of the pedophile priests, Father Carl LeClair even started a men’s initiation group called “Warriors of the Sacred King”. I was a member and we all had deep father wounds which Father Carl skilfully manipulated to his pleasure. Father Clair was called “Lionmaster” and conducted the workshops/retreats as our guru/shaman leader. You can read moe at BishopAccountability’s web site if the Vatican hasn’t blocked it yet! In the meantime, Father Carl was involved in his Arizona parish with young boys who later accused him of sexual pedastry. I think Maciel had a similar process going with his seminarians.

The review I read said that the government was heavily involved in sending women and in determining the conditions there. It also said conditions were not as advertised, and were common in Irish institutions. I haven’t read the report. I don’t know. I believe those who say they suffered. I don’t believe Hollywood.

Grooming
Many testimonials of the abused include graphic details of the grooming process including watching pornographic movies with the accused. This is a tool they used to stir sexual feelings in a youth.How many boys have been invited to rectories because the priest wanted to discuss a possible vocation or altar service instructions?
How many priests have been punished by their Bishops from complaining about the pornography other priests have in the rectory?
How many times have you heard a brave priest speak out from the pulpit against viewing pornographic images especially directed at men and boys?
This is why the TOB lectures are so dangerous in the wrong hands .

I think we’re going to see the conclave turn into an appointment by acclamation. I can see it now: mobs of adolescent goons organized by the Ford Foundation or its Catholic equivalent showing up outside churches demanding the appointment of so-and-so to the papal throne. Regarding the nuns who ran the labor camps in Ireland and the torture/psychiatric institutions in Canada (US too?), I imagine that the mother superiors were raking in the cash while the other nuns got nothing.

The Church bureaucracy appears to have gone majority homosexual in general. I was looking at a campus ministry program at a Catholic university in a nearby large city. More than a few of the lay “ministers” at that university look homosexual. American evangelicals are the last ones standing in the culture wars. The Church has gone more or less completely over to the establishment. The only thing left is for the Church formally to adopt gay marriage.

Proposal: That Catholic teaching on reparation and restitution be followed in the absolution of sex abuse of minors as it is in theft. The penitent should be told that he is not absolved until he helps restore the child’s integrity and the peace of the family by confessing to the parents, whose child he has injured, so that the parents can address the injury to their child. Not to confess is to continue in a crime of injustice against the parents.

Alton, The Orthodox forbade homosexuals at the altar . I know several Orthodox churches here still do, but I have also been told by one poorly educated recently Ordained Orthodox priest that a homosexual pastor was no reason to leave a parish.Perhaps we are all headed this way? They just have to collect and burn all the Bibles and rewrite them all to be inclusive and wait till the last old priest dies off.

I just received in the mail a glossy four color solicitation from the Servants of the Paraclete, to help priests and brothers face “the challenges of daily life” that “are common to us all.” The nerve.
Mary, there were some scandals involving the Greek government and certain clergy in the Orthodox Church years back. The clergy were apparently homosexual. So I guess o one is immune though I wonder if making the priesthood open to married men makes for a smaller percentage of gay c;lergy. Eastern clerics generally impress me as somehow more masculine than many western priests and ministers Also Eastern Christian theology is very robust and demanding. It is not for the faint of heart or the “soft”. The presentation of the Gospel as a call to heroism made possible by the grace of God might keep a certain type of clergyman at bay. If I could sing, I’d look into becoming a Byzantine catholic yesterday!
